“We are not worried about Sir Jim Ratcliffe” — Erik ten Hag
Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has squashed the fears of the club’s supporters as regards the potential takeover of the club in his pre-match conference leading into Sunday’s Manchester derby.
The fandom had taken to social media to air their grievances after it was reported that Qatari businessman, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad would be backing out of the negotiations to purchase the club from the Glazers.
Following the news, it was then reported that the Glazer family had fancied not selling a 100 percent stake of the club but a minor stake that English billionaire, Sir Jim Ratcliffe was willing to sign on to.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe who also owns a football club in France, reportedly agreed to buying 25 percent of the club’s stake with a potential control of all sporting decisions made by the club hierarchy.
The news of course did not sit well with the Manchester United fanbase, with a few social media influencers and YouTube content creators taking online to tag the potential take over by Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the ‘beginning of the end’ for the club.
However, Erik ten Hag in his pre-match press conference reveals there is nothing to be worried about over Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s influence in the team.
The Dutchman said;
“No, I don’t think so,” when asked if Ratcliffe’s reign will bring potential changes that might affect the team moving forward.
“Of course they are committed to the club, but they are especially committed to this team,”
“If they want to be successful, then they are aware you need the team.”
