We are lucky to have Jesus on our Side--Odegaard

Drop all the biblical puns, Arsenal made a steal when they got Gabriel Jesus signed on ahead of the 2022/23 season and playmaker, Martin Odegaard knows it.

It very much was a statement for Arsenal to go all in for the marquee signing from Manchester City especially after the anti-climatic end to their 2021/22 season.

With North-London rivals, Tottenham not giving up after pipping them to the top 4 position in the back end of last season, it was imperative they not only acted but acted decisively.

For Martin Odegaard, he considers it a privilege and a luck to have the Brazilian in their ranks after years of consistent success at Manchester City.

It was a signing that made the Gunners cough out a whooping £45m in the summer to land the Brazilian despite interests from rivals.

There is no doubt about the striker’s quality as he played a key in winning the Etihad side multiple Premier League titles, FA Cup and league cups.

And looking at how Gabriel Jesus started his Arsenal career in preseason, scoring twice against Numberg and Everton with a classic finish, there stands no doubt about the 25 year Old’s quality.

For his teammate, Odegaard, he considers it fun linking up with the Brazilian ahead of the season stating remarkably ‘it could be fun’.

“I’ve only trained with him for a few days now, but it doesn’t take long to see that he has a lot of qualities,” Odegaard told ESPN.

“I think he will bring a lot of good things to the team.

“I’ve seen him play a lot for Man City and yes, I think we are lucky to have him. I’m really excited to play with him and link up, I think it could be fun.

“You see a lot in training to see what he’s like. Strikers, they want different things but you just have to watch him in training to see where he wants the ball.

“My job is to feed him and try to make him score goals. That’s what I want to do.

“I have to learn his movements, how he wants the ball, where he wants the ball and those kind of things. It takes a little bit of time but in training you can see what it’s like and I think it will be fine.”
