This season for Liverpool can be considered a write off by all standards the Reds are used to in recent days, but for manager, Jurgen Klopp, it will in no way affect the Reds’ summer activity.
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed his plans to rebuild the squad in the upcoming summer transfer window. According to Football Insider, Klopp is keen on hiring a new sporting director for the club as the Reds have lost two sporting directors in consecutive seasons.
The report suggests that Klopp will be the one to choose the new sporting director instead of being given one by the Fenway Sports Group, the club’s owners.
Liverpool is reportedly targeting midfielders such as Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount, or Nicolo Barella in the upcoming transfer window, as they aim to revamp their midfield.
Spanish publication Fichajes reported that Liverpool has identified Nicolo Barella as an option for midfield. Additionally, Football transfers have reported that Liverpool is closely monitoring Luka Sucic from RB Salzburg.
Despite Liverpool’s current struggle to qualify for next season’s Champions League, Klopp has assured fans that it will not affect the club’s transfer plans. Klopp affirmed, “It makes things more difficult but we’re still Liverpool, a big club. We will have transfer business. We have to 100% make changes in the summer.”
The Reds have lost far too many games during the turn of the New Year, with the club having regained form somewhat in the recent Merseyside derby clash with Everton and the away win at Newcastle United, all of which ended in a 2-0 victory.
They have improved their spot in the Premier League rankings, currently sitting 8th with eyes still aiming at the Top 4 should they win their games.
Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will face Real Madrid next in the UEFA Champions League, a real test towards their so-called found form.
