“We all love Jorginho” — Mikel Arteta on the North London derby
Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has hit out at the criticisms against midfielder, Jorginho after the North London derby versus Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates on Sunday.
The Gunners dropped 2 points on the road to their premier league title charge against Manchester City after throwing a 2-1 lead for a 2-2 stalemate at home to their arch rivals, Spurs.
One key man who faced the harsh narratives, was substitute, Jorginho who came on to replace Declan Rice at the start of the second half.
With the score line at 1-1, Bukayo Saka was able to convert a penalty to gift Arsenal the lead only for Jorginho’s error to allow for a Heung-Min Son brace shortly after to round the score line at 2-2.
Speaking after the game, Mikel Arteta stood by Jorginho, saying:
“I love him and we all love him. Errors are a part of football. They are allowed to make errors because they play. He is someone who helps the team. We all love him and are with him.”
The draw versus Tottenham Hotspur now seats the Gunners at 5th spot in the premier league, 4 points behind a surging Manchester City side.
Unlike the previous campaign, Arsenal now has the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur ready to prove a challenge for the league title after 6 games played.
