Watchmen tops 2020 Emmys with 26 nominations topnaija.ng

Popular American superhero series, ‘Watchmen’ has secured the highest nominations for the 2020 Emmy Awards, with a record 26 entries. 

 

The novel series which was produced by Home Box Office (HBO), topped the nomination chart with ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ clinching the second spot with 20 nominations.

‘Ozark’ and ‘Succession’ occupied the third spot on the chart with 18 nominations each.

Nominations for the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday during a virtual ceremony streamed live.

The announcement sees Netflix, US-based streaming giant, broke the record for most nominations in a single year, scoring 160 in total.

HBO held the record in 2019 with 137 nominations but chalked up 107 this year.

Final-round voting for this year’s edition of the Emmys is billed to commence from August 21 to 31.

The award ceremony is scheduled to hold on September 20, with Jimmy Kimmel, American media personality, enlisted as its host.
