After being bashed and protested against, Senator Elisha Abbo apologized for assaulting a woman. The senator representing Adamawa North referenced the famous quote,”to err is human, to forgive is divine”.

In a video that went viral on Tuesday, the 41-year old senator is seen physically assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop, after she told him, “Take it easy.”

His party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), released a statement condemning his actions. The Senate also began an investigation into the assault, this prompted the senator to apologize in a press conference yesterday evening.

He’s not known for being violent, he said in the press conference. He asked that Nigerians forgive him.
