Before the seemingly endless era of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Brazil’s Ronaldinho Gaucho was widely regarded as the greatest footballer on the face of the planet.

During his time at Barcelona, Ronaldinho won two La Liga titles, one Champions League and was twice named as the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005.

Although a significant dip in form saw the attacking midfielder sold to AC Milan in 2008, the 37-year-old is still widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time and has only recently announced that he plans to officially retire in 2018.

However, togging out in a friendly over the weekend, Ronaldinho reminded football fans around the world of his brilliance as he lobbed the opposition’s goalkeeper with an inch-perfect effort from inside his own half.

The goal clearly meant a lot to the footballing great as, posting the moment on his Instagram account, Ronaldinho stated that it will go down as one as one of his ‘most beautiful’.
