Vwaere Diaso’s death, Sanwo-Olu takes action
In the wake of a tragic incident at General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island, that resulted in the death of Vwaere Diaso Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has taken decisive action by suspending the General Manager of the Lagos State Infrastructure and Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA), Adenike Adekambi.
The incident, which resulted in the untimely death of Doctor Vwaere Diaso on Tuesday, August 1, has prompted a series of measures aimed at addressing the situation.
The suspension of Adenike Adekambi was announced through a statement released by Olumide Sogunle, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
The decision was made following initial findings that indicated potential lapses in safety protocols and maintenance procedures within the hospital premises.
Additionally, the facility managers of General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island, have been dismissed and subsequently blacklisted due to their involvement in the incident.
The hospital’s management is under scrutiny for their alleged negligence in addressing recurring issues with the facility’s equipment.
In response to the tragedy, a panel has been established by the government to thoroughly investigate the circumstances leading to the accident.
The panel’s mandate includes identifying those responsible for the incident, determining the causes of the malfunction, and proposing measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The victim, Doctor Vwaere Diaso, was just two weeks away from completing her housemanship at the hospital when the fatal incident occurred.
Reports indicate that while she was on her way to retrieve a delivery from a dispatch rider, the lift she was in suddenly crashed from the 10th floor to the ground floor, resulting in fatal injuries.
