Virgil van Dijk gets into more trouble with the ‘Law’
Virgil van Dijk’s fury gets the better of him as he is set to cost Liverpool more troubles following FA’s decision.
As earlier predicted in our earlier report, Liverpool’s captain, Virgil van Dijk has gotten himself into serious trouble with the Football Association following his sending off against Newcastle United.
Based on ongoing reports, the Dutchman has been charged by the FA for his reaction to receiving the red card against Newcastle for his foul on Alexander Isak over the weekend.
Prior to leaving the pitch, Virgil van Dijk was seen in a verbal confrontation with the referee John Brooks during the controversial decision.
The 32-year-old was seen expressing obvious fury with the matchday official and also the fourth official before leaving the pitch in protest of the decision.
In our earlier reports, a former referee, Mike Dean had urged the FA to review the incident for a case of descent on Van Dijk’s part, declaring that the former Southampton man if charged, could be facing lengthier terms on the sidelines.
According to ESPN journalist, Mark Ogden, he states that;
“Van Dijk charged by FA after he allegedly ‘acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official after being sent off in the 29th minute’ at Newcastle.”
Virgil van Dijk was initially set for a one-match ban but now faces a four-match ban according to the Premier League rules.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Mike Dean said prior to Van Dijk being charged;
“Van Dijk disagreed as he unleashed a verbal volley on fourth official Craig Pawson, which was out of line.
“Depending on what is written in the referee’s report, Van Dijk may find himself in further trouble with the football authorities.”
