Virgil van Dijk cool on contract talks but mocks Arsenal

Liverpool took on the mighty Gunners of Arsenal in an eventful 2-2 draw with Reds Skipper Virgil van Dijk having a lot to do throughout the 90 minutes.

Liverpool’s defensive titan and captain Virgil van Dijk however broke his silence post-match on the contract rumors swirling around Anfield.

Speaking after his equalizing goal in Liverpool’s dramatic 2-2 draw against Arsenal, van Dijk stayed unfazed, emphasizing he’s “very calm” about his future and focused on enjoying the game.

But he didn’t miss the chance to cheekily call out Arsenal’s well-documented injury drama. As Liverpool fought back at the Emirates, van Dijk quipped about Arsenal’s recent injury returns, noting,

“I think they only had two injuries today, didn’t they? Obviously, they played a very, very strong team.”

The former Southampton maestro inspired Liverpool’s comeback after the Reds went down to a Bukayo Saka goal in the first half, with Virgil van Dijk netting an equalizer minutes after.

With Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold also under contract speculation, the future of Liverpool’s key players remains in question.

Yet, amid all the rumors, van Dijk’s focus was firmly on Liverpool’s resilience and his own commitment on the field—while not-so-subtly reminding Arsenal that their injury issues might just be a little overblown.
