Viral video: ISWAP releases footage of attack on Kuje prison, claims responsibility
The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has claimed responsibility for the late-night attack on the Kuje Correctional Facility.
Recall that on Tuesday night, explosions and gunshots were heard coming from the direction of the correctional center, causing panic among Kuje residents.
In a recent event, the terrorist group, in a statement on Wednesday, July 6, issued through its propaganda news outlet, Amaq, a video was released, showing how it breached the Medium Security prison, allowing hundreds of detainees, including Boko Haram members, to be released.
According to the statement, ISWAP fighters demolished the facility’s walls and “successfully liberated dozens of prisoners.”

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mister Shuaibu Belgore, explained that over 300 of the inmates have been retrieved and more are on the way, confirming that about 600 prison inmates fled in the attack that night.
