Victor Osimhen Out To Smash Oba-goal’s Serie A Record

Records are created just to be broken, and for Victor Osimhen at Napoli, he is doing just that; breaking the records by any Nigerian that ever played in the Italian Serie A, including Obafemi Martins’.

The Nigerian and Napoli striker has been in fine form this season, despite his prior injury issues and has been one of the catalysts for Napoli’s renowned form this season that has kept them unbeaten in the Serie A so far.

When Napoli plays Udinese this weekend, Victor Osimhen will be eager to try and break yet another Italian Serie A record.

In the Parthenopeans’ 2-1 away victory at Atalanta last weekend, Victor Osimhen, who has been in outstanding form for Napoli this season, tied the record most assists held by former Inter Milan forward Obafemi Martins.

Each of the Nigerian team’s 10 assists in Serie A. He will pass Martins if he receives another assist against Udinese.

Last Saturday, the 23-year-old overtook Simy Nwankwo to become Nigeria’s all-time leading scorer in Serie A. Nwankwo now has 31 goals, while Osimhen has 32.

He has nine goals this season for Napoli in 13 games in all competitions.

It is however sad though that despite his fine form, Victor Osimhen will be genuinely missed at the Qatar World Cup owing to Nigeria’s elimination at the hands of neighborhood rivals, Ghana in the qualifiers.

It would have been something quite of interest to see how the star does against big international players on the international scene.
