Victor Osimhen hints at possible retirement
Super Eagles striker and current African Best Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen has hinted at a possible retirement from the international scene if situations turn out a certain way for the Nigerian national team.
The Napoli forward who is looking to make history with the Nigerian Senior team opens up on his goals moving forward.
According to Victor Osimhen, that could possibly be a look at retirement should he win the African Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles.
Having finished eighth in the prestigious Ballon d’Or rankings last season, Osimhen acknowledges the significance of lifting the AFCON trophy with the Nigerian national team.
As Nigeria gears up for their second group match in the ongoing tournament, Victor Osimhen openly admitted that such a victory would stand out as one of the best moments of his life.
Reflecting on his accomplishments, Osimhen stated,
“I have done that with Napoli; I have made history, but no matter what I do, no matter how many goals I have scored, to be able to win the AFCON, I would go a long way in my life but probably when I do that, I am done.”
The Nigerian striker in contrast to last season’s form, has found a bit of struggle achieving some of statistics of the 2022/23 season that saw him inspire Napoli to a first Serie A title win in years.
