Victor Osimhen almost died playing against Inter Milan
Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen went through quite the ordeal last season judging from an injury he got while playing against Inter Milan during their title charge against AC Milan.
The injury which had required the Nigerian star to be stretchered off the pitch in the fixture, is one Osimhen considers a near death experience.
If he didn’t die, it took a lot of grace for it not to impact his football career, as the injury saw the player go through a lengthy lay off on the club side before ultimately making his return to the team.
It was one of the things that cost the player a spot in the 2021 AFCON competition that was played between January and February of 2022.
And for Nigerian supporters, they see the lay off as one of the things that cost them the AFCON title against a Tunisia that sent the Eagles crashing out of the competition, as early as the Round of 16.
Speaking on the injury, the Super Eagles striker says:
“That injury I had against Inter Milan was like a near-death injury. I am the only one that felt it, and I can only speak about how I felt because it was my face and body.
“But to be able to stand up without using the stretcher, walk out of the pitch on my own, then I knew that it was something I could handle.
“For me, as I got to the hospital, I told my doctor that I would be out for two weeks maximum,” the player recounted.
