Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Visits Ikenna Ahead Of Elections

The gubernatorial elections are here, and Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo pays a visit to his hometown ahead of the elections.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo made a homecoming to his hometown of Ikenne in Ogun State on Friday, ahead of the gubernatorial and state assembly elections that took place on Saturday.

The Vice President, accompanied by his wife, Dolapo Osinbajo, and some aides, arrived at his country home after attending the funeral service of Hilda Adefarasin in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Following his arrival, Yemi Osinbajo held meetings with leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikenne Local Government at the Legacy Centre in the town. Some of the APC leaders who met with the Vice President include Adewunmi Onanuga, a member of the House of Representatives representing Remo Federal Constituency, ward chairmen, and local government councilors.

The ward chairmen present at the meeting were Hon. Kunle Orelaja, Hon. Niran Salau, and Hon. Segun Awomuti, while the councilors present were Hon. Idowu Matonmi and Kayode Shodiyan. During the meeting, the APC stakeholders expressed their appreciation for Osinbajo’s national service and his contributions to the Ikenne Local Government Area.

It is understood that the Vice President and his wife voted at Egunrege in Ikenne on Saturday in the governorship and state assembly elections. The elections were reportedly peaceful, and no major incidents were reported in Ikenne or the state as a whole.

Osinbajo’s visit to Ikenne and his meetings with APC stakeholders were seen as a boost for the party’s chances in the elections, as the Vice President remains a popular figure in the state. The APC is hoping to retain control of the governorship and state assembly in Ogun State, where it currently holds a majority. The results of the elections are expected to be announced soon.
