Veteran Nollywood Actor, Mr. Ibu finally undergoes major surgery
Nollywood veteran and popular comic actor John Okafor, widely recognized as Mr Ibu, has recently undergone two significant surgeries, according to reports from Naija News.
The news came to light as Mr Ibu’s adopted daughter, Jazmine Okafor, took to Instagram to announce the developments.
The actor, who recently celebrated his 63rd birthday, spent the occasion in an undisclosed Lagos hospital, where he made a heartfelt plea for financial support to prevent the possible amputation of his leg.
In a video shared on his Instagram account, Mr Ibu shared his ordeal, stating,
“I have been down for so many weeks, all I’m hoping for is your prayers and assistance. I’ve been in the hospital, as I speak to you, I’m still lying down in the hospital.
“The medical director says in case his new idea didn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg, just see me, if they cut off my leg where will I go to? Please be on prayers for me, talk to God Almighty, I don’t want my leg to be cut off. God bless you.”
Providing an update on her father’s condition, Jazmine shared that despite the challenging circumstances, the actor maintained his sense of humor. She expressed her admiration for his resilience, saying,
“Never seen anyone so strong… even after two major surgeries, you were still trying to be funny like nothing happened, even in your lowest you still cracked jokes! I promise you, if there’s a God in heaven, you are getting out of this bed, stronger and alive.
“This is the strongest I have seen you in 3 weeks, and I’m so excited! Fight this and get well soon, sweet papa.”
