Van Nistelrooy’s warning looms large over Rashford
Manchester United braces for a potential shake-up, with academy product Marcus Rashford facing an uncertain future amid expressing intereset in seeking a “new challenge”.
The 27-year-old forward, sidelined in United’s recent derby win over Manchester City, appears ready to step away from the club he joined at age seven.
In a bombshell interview with Henry Winter, Rashford expressed his disappointment at being excluded from the squad while maintaining respect for United.

$40m Marcus Rashford escape plan faces sad truth
“You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United,” he remarked. However, his declaration that he’s “ready for the next steps” suggests a looming exit.
Reports claim the club is open to offers around £40 million for the England international, sparking immediate interest from top clubs. Yet, Ruud van Nistelrooy, a United legend and former mentor to Rashford, has already warned of the grass not always being greener. Reflecting on his own move to Real Madrid in 2006, Van Nistelrooy admitted:
“Where can you go after United? Probably that’s Madrid. But any other thing isn’t the same. Now I know what it is – playing for those kind of clubs, that’s a one-off for a player.”
Rashford’s potential departure poses a significant challenge for Ruben Amorim, who insists the forward remains vital to United’s plans. “We are better with Marcus Rashford, that is simple,” Amorim said in a press conference. “This kind of club needs big talent… I hope all my players are ready.”
