Uzodinma didn’t interfere in our primary election – LP chairman

The Chairman of the Labour Party in the South-East Zone, Mr. Innocent Okeke, has issued a statement refuting allegations that Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State interfered with the party’s primary election in the state.
The primary election was conducted by Abia State Governor-elect, Alex Otti, and Senator Athan Achonu emerged as the Labour Party candidate for the November 11 gubernatorial election in Imo State.
Okeke emphasized that the party conducted a fair, transparent, and legitimate election process to determine its candidate.
He stated that the exercise was conducted in line with the new Nigerian mantra and was supervised by INEC staff, security agents, and observers. Okeke urged every aggrieved aspirant to apply caution and shun any form of blackmail against the party members.
He also stated that the party and the candidate will accommodate everyone in the scheme of things.
Okeke refuted claims that Governor Uzodinma had any influence over the primary election and urged those trying to plant seed of discord in the party over the conduct of the primary election to seek redress through avenues provided in the party’s constitution, not by mudslinging.
He expressed confidence that the Labour Party will succeed in producing the next governor of Imo state.
