Usman Ododo declared winner of Kogi Elections

In a decisive victory, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Usman Ododo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Kogi state governorship election.

The announcement was made by the Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Johnson Urama from the University of Nigeria, Nnsuka, at the INEC state collation centre in Lokoja, the state capital, on Sunday night.

Ododo secured a substantial lead with 446,237 votes, outperforming Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who claimed the second position with 259,052 votes. Dino Melaye, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), trailed behind with 46,362 votes.

Prof. Urama stated, “Ahmed Ododo having certified the requirements of the law is hereby declared winner and returned elected.”

Additionally, he reported that the number of cancelled votes in areas where the election did not take place amounted to 16,247, emphasizing that this figure was not significant enough to substantially impact the overall outcome of the results.
