US President Joe Biden on Friday signed an executive order aimed at promoting “environmental justice for all” and improving the lives of communities most affected by toxic pollution and climate change.

The  order ensures that every federal agency will  prioritize environmental justice and take action to address the disproportionate impacts of pollution on low-income communities and communities of color.

This move is part of the Biden administration’s efforts to tackle climate change and address environmental inequalities.

Biden has previously officially signed

  • Executive Order on Advancing Equity, Justice, and Opportunity for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (May 28, 2021)
  • Executive Order on Climate-Related Financial Risk (May 20, 2021)
  • Executive Order on the Revocation of Certain Presidential Actions and Technical Amendment (May 14, 2021)
