Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara have extended their congratulations to Donald and Melania Trump following the former US president’s apparent win in the election.

“Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback!” Netanyahu said in an English-language statement, reflecting Trump’s signature bold style.

Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America. This is a huge victory!”

The statement concluded with Netanyahu signing off, “In true friendship.”
