Update: Memorial #EndSARS Protest to hold on October 20 – Sowore

Nobody can stop the planned protest for October 2019 #EndSARS victims, it will hold on October 20, 2021, says Sowore.

Human right activist, Omoyele Sowore in a tweet on today warned the police against suppressing the will of Nigerians to repudiate the mass atrocities of the Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

Earlier today Lagos State CP  warned against any gathering, protest or procession in any part of the state as part of moves to prevent the memorial protest.

RECALL:

On October 20, 2020, a. yet-to-be-confirmed number of Nigerians were killed after men of the Nigerian Army opened fire on peaceful #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos.

Hours before a curfew was scheduled to begin on the particular date, soldiers had stormed the toll gate where protesters had gathered and started shooting.

Though the Army initially denied soldiers were at the scene, it later admitted soldiers were there on the invitation of the state government.

It, however, insisted they shot no one, despite video evidence showing otherwise.

Sowore was arrested by the Nigerian State Security Service (SSS) for alleged treason after calling for a protest tagged RevolutionNow on 3 August 2019. He was arrested again and beaten during a protest in Abuja on January 1, 2021. Sowore was injured by a police officer during a protest in Abuja on May 31, 2021.
