UK leader, Boris Johnson on Monday, June 6, survived a no-confidence vote that could have removed him from power.

Boris faces pressure over high energy, food costs and a fall out over the Partygate scandal where his offices organized parties during the lockdown period.

During a secret ballot in Westminster, the conservative members of parliament voted 211-148 to allow him stay in power.

In his interview with Sky News, he said th e vote was a “decisive result,” despite the 40% split by members of his own party.

Johnson said, “I think it’s an extremely good, positive, conclusive, decisive result which enables us to move on, to unite and to focus on delivery (of services)”.

Conservative Party official, Graham Brady, announced Monday that he had received letters calling for a no-confidence vote from at least 54 Tory legislators.

This was enough to trigger the measure under party rules.

Johnson needed to win the backing of a simple majority of the 359 Conservative lawmakers to remain in office.
