UEFA banters Arsenal with a Champions League déjà vu encounter

UEFA are doing this to Arsenal on purpose aren’t they? Or are we to believe the Champions League draw was very much coincidental?

The high flying Arsenal team has found themselves heading for a date with fate and destiny as UEFA releases the draw for the Champions League quarter final set to come up after the international break. It is a date that brings the very famous Gunners of North London with a team that has in recent years become a boogey side for them.

The North London Gunners are set to take on the infamous Bayern Munich in a two legged tie that reunites Arsenal with the Bavarian side after a 14-year absence from the quarter-final and the competition.

The last time both sides faced, it was a groundhog’s day level event with Arsenal suffering a crunching 5-1 defeat in both legged ties to crash out of the competition.

The Champions League has in recent times become the Gunners’ bane, with the North London side in their years of existence failing to cling on to the coveted prize. However, with Mikel Arteta’s side proving themselves the challenge this season, they will hope to change the narratives this time around.

Ahead of what promises to be an epic encounter, other Champions League draws have set out these teams against each other;

Arsenal vs. Bayern Munich

Atletico Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund

Real Madrid vs. Manchester City

Paris Saint-Germain vs. Barcelona

Aside Bayern Munich taking on Arsenal, other narratives are set to take place as Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side are set to take on Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid again for what is the third consecutive season.

Paris Saint-Germain have also seen themselves re-establish a date with the famous Barcelona.

For the Semi-finals, whoever wins between Atletico Madrid and Dortmund will set a meeting versus winner of Barcelona and PSG.

Whereas an all English semi-final could be on the cards should Manchester City beat Real Madrid and Arsenal come out on top against FC Bayern Munich.

Quarter final schedule takes place on April 9 and 10 for the first leg. Second leg takes place on April 16 and 17.

Semi final sets its date on April 30 and May 1 for the first leg and May 7 and 8 for the second leg, with a view for the final in June 1 at Wembley.
