UAE lifts flight ban for Nigeria and 11 others, updates entry measures for 3

The flight ban imposed on Nigeria and 11 other countries by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities have been lifted.

The travel restrictions were placed by the Arabian nation to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the new variant, Omicron to their country.

Equally affected by the flight ban were countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Republic of Congo, South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

However, Entry measures have also been updated for travellers from Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda, which were not banned, the General Civil Aviation Authority, and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Emergency Management Authority announced.

The measures, which are to take effect from January 29 at 2:30pm, added that a COVID-19 test obtained within 48 hours of departure and a PCR test at the airport in UAE will be required from travellers from the three African countries.
