On June 1st, two suspected electric cable criminals were apprehended in Ijebu ode by personnel of the Ogun state police command for vandalizing and stealing IBEDC CABLE.

The two suspects, Odogwu Wisdom and Akorede Aregbe, were apprehended after the DPO Igbeba divisional headquarters received a distress call at about 2 a.m. from a local vigilante in the Olisa area of Ijebu ode, reporting that some vandals were committing nefarious acts at an IBEDC transformer in the area.

Following the information, CSP Musiliu Doga, DPO Igbeba division, swiftly led his patrol team to the area, where Odogwu Wisdom, who arrived on a motorcycle, was detained with a cut cable from the region’s electrical infrastructure, while his other comrades escaped.

During interrogation, Odogwu Wisdom admitted that he and his crew specialized in stealing power cable, and that one of their receivers was Akorede Aregbe.
After mentioning the receiver, the cops went after him and arrested him as well.

Large lengths of cable believed to have been stolen from an IBEDC installation, as well as instruments used in the illegal trade, were recovered from them.

The state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest and added that the state commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the suspects to be transferred to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.
