The lives of two persons were reportedly lost and a house razed in a fight between rival cults in Orhuwhorun community, Udu Council of Delta State, on  Monday night.

While one was reportedly seized from his home and beheaded at Egini Junction, the other was killed along Obugere Road, both within the locality.

Yesterday, businesses were forced to close down as residents ran helter-skelter for safety following another round of violence by the hoodlums.

A resident revealed that the trouble started on Sunday when a cult group stormed a church and attacked a target, leaving him with cutlass wounds.

The source said throughout the week there were reprisal attacks, causing residents to scamper for safety.

Police spokesman Bright Edafe said the command heard of the killings but added that there were no bodies at the scene.

“We don’t know whoever is hiding anything. If it truly happened or not, we cannot tell because when we got to the scene there was no evidence to prove that there were killings. But we are still on it,” he said, adding that there was no longer tension in the area.
