Two persons reportedly died in a fatal accident along the Lagos-Ibadan highway at exactly 7:02am on Friday around the interchange in Ogun State.

“A total of four persons were involved, all male adults, two persons were injured and two deaths were recorded from the crash,” the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), says Ogun Sector Command.

The spokesperson of the FRSC in Ogun, Florence Okpe, informed that two vehicles were involved – a Toyota Tundra pickup with registration number AGL254HB, and an imported fairly-used Lexus car.

“The suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed and dangerous driving on the part of the Lexus car driver, who, while coming from Lagos, made a dangerous U-turn without observing traffic signs and at that process, the Tundra pickup coming from Ibadan rammed into the car and a lady by the roadside waiting for a vehicle. Unfortunately, the lady died, Okpe explained.

She added that those who sustained injuries in the accident were taken to Idera Hospital in Sagamu for medical attention, saying the dead victims were deposited at the same hospital’s mortuary.

The FRSC is currently headed by Boboye O Oyeyemi, MFR, mni, whose title of Corps Marshal is the highest rank in the Corps ranking system.
