In a distressing incident, bandits have reportedly kidnapped two prominent women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.

The sad incident took place along the notorious Manini axis in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area.

The victims, identified as Hajiya Lami Awarware and her assistant, Hajiya Haulatu Aliyu, were said to have been in the area attending the inauguration ceremony of state governor Uba Sani when they were abducted.

Confirming the occurrence, the Chairman of Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union, Ishaq Kasai, made a statement to the press on Wednesday. According to reports, the bandits whisked the women into the forest during the abduction, which took place on Tuesday.

In addition to the two women, Kasai revealed that the criminals also kidnapped a significant number of other individuals. At this time, the identities of these victims have not been released. Furthermore, there is currently no known contact from the kidnappers regarding potential ransom demands or the welfare of the abductees.

The exact circumstances of the incident remain unclear, as the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammad Jalige, had not responded to inquiries about the incident at the time of this report.

This incident heightens existing concerns about security in the region, highlighting the urgent need for intensified efforts to curb criminal activities and ensure the safety of citizens.
