Twelve Years Old Amazon Bookstore To Shut Down In April

Published

on

UK-based bookseller Book Depository, which was acquired by Amazon in 2011, has announced that it will be shutting down on April 26.

Customers will still be able to place orders until midday UK time on that day, and the company will continue to provide support until June 23.

Book Depository was founded in 2004 and sells over 20 million books, offering free delivery to more than 120 countries. The closure comes as Amazon is making drastic cuts to its workforce, with plans to cut more than 18,000 roles globally due to uncertain economic conditions.

It is not clear how many layoffs will result from Book Depository’s closure.
