A pan-Yoruba group, Yoruba Youth Forum, YFF has described Tunji Disu‘s new appointment as an insult to Yoruba nation.

Topnaija reports that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba on Monday appointed Tunji Disu as the new head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT).

The unit was once managed by deputy commissioner of police, DCP Abba Kyari before his suspension by the Police Service Commission (PSC) on Sunday, August 1.

However in a statement on Tuesday on Facebook, the YYF blasted Tunji Disu for replacing Abba Kyari who was younger than him.

After doing some comparisons, the YYF said Tunji Disu’s new duty is sign of the repression of Yoruba people under the sham unitary system imposed on the people of Nigeria.

The statement further revealed that when Tinubu becomes president, the pride of the Yoruba people will be restored.

Tunji Disu was advised to reject the offer and lead Amotekun in Lagos.

The statement read in part;

“Tunji Disu’s new station, replacing his junior, Abba Kyari, is indeed an insult to the Yoruba nation and a sign of the repression of the Yoruba people under the sham unitary system imposed on the people of Nigeria.

“As Yoruba people, we have lost our homeland, our people’s security and
everything else. However, Tinubu’s presidency will help restore the pride of the Yoruba people. And to those who wish death on Tinubu, we are coming for your heads in the days and months ahead.

“I hope that Mr. Tunde Disu will refuse the nomination or resign from the police and help lead the Amotekun in Lagos. Young Yoruba need a role model in this day and age”.
