Truck rams into tricycle, kills one in Anambra

A truck rammed into a tricycle and killed one person at the Zik roundabout on the Awka-Onitsha Expressway, Anambra State, on Sunday.

The state Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Pascal Anigbo, confirmed the crash.

He said the crash occurred around 3.55pm when a Scania truck with number plate LSR 810 XS rammed into the tricycle with number plate AAH 790 UW.

Anigbo stated, “The crash occurred when the driver of the truck beat the traffic light and rammed into the tricycle. Three male adults were involved in the crash. One sustained some degrees of injury, while one death was recorded.

“The injured victim was rushed to the Toronto Hospital, Onitsha, while the corpse of the deceased was deposited in the Boromeo Hospital’s mortuary by the FRSC rescue team from the Onitsha Unit Command.”
