Tribunal gives verdict on Lagos Gubernatorial election

The winners and losers of the Lagos Gubernatorial elections revealed as the Election Petitions Tribunal officially returns its verdict.

The Lagos Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has made a significant ruling by dismissing the petitions filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and the Labour Party (LP), as well as Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

These petitions challenged the outcome of the governorship election held on March 18, which resulted in the victory of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Jandor, a contestant in the March 18 gubernatorial election in Lagos State, had raised concerns about the election results and sought to challenge the victory of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

Justice Mikhail Abdullah, presiding over the tribunal, made the announcement regarding the tribunal’s decision during the judgment proceedings. The ruling followed objections raised by the respondents in the case, signaling a pivotal moment in the ongoing legal process.

With the dismissal of these petitions, it appears that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the March 18 governorship election has been affirmed by the Lagos Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

This development marks a significant milestone in the electoral and legal landscape of Lagos State.
