Trent Alexander Arnold blunder might end Liverpool’s title hopes

The Premier League like every football lover hoped for, returned fully this weekend, but for Liverpool, it appears their title hopes this season might just have been dashed by a Trent Alexander Arnold blunder.

The Liverpool right-back seems to be at the center of every defensive blunder and a weak link season after season, and now, it continues into another season with the Englishman getting himself caught out by Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic in the Premier League opener.

Liverpool started the game very much unlike the team that almost won itself a quadruple last season, with the players too sluggish to challenges, allowing themselves to get caught out of possession or either too soft for the physical Fulham.

Indeed, the game came out the way it deserved for Liverpool, though unfair to a Fulham side who showed class and resilience against the Merseyside team to prove themselves worthy Champions of the Championship.

Liverpool would go back thankfully of seeing a draw on opening weekend and not a defeat in the 2-2 level score line on the noon of Saturday.

The London side, Fulham, thankfully saw a lead in the first half of the game at 32 minutes run time, thanks to a header by Mitrovic who had Trent Alexander Arnold bullied in defence to put the Cottagers ahead.

That goal seemed to dictate the whole game, as Liverpool found themselves neutralized at every angle of the game as they struggled to keep their title hopes alive.

Though the team kept on making blunder after blunder, their title hopes may have seen a rescue in the second half when Darwin Nunez came into the game to score the club’s first goal of the season, and his first goal in his Premier League debut.

It only took him 15 minutes upon substitution to score a cheeky goal on second trial.

But just as it was with the Trent Alexander Arnold blunder, Liverpool’s Number 4, Virgil van Dijk fell to the same fate as he tripped the same Aleksandar Mitrovic in the box to earn Fulham a penalty.

The Fulham target man slotted the kick right past Alisson to dent Liverpool’s title hopes once more and ensure he was the first player to net a brace in the new Premier League season.

Fulham led the game once more and they could have earned their deserved 3 points if not for a Mohamed Salah goal to draw the game level.

Mohamed Salah kept his record of scoring every opening match day; the 6th time in successive seasons, but Liverpool ended the game with dropped points to dent their title hopes in an all demanding Premier League.

Not even Jordan Henderson’s clutch strike to hit the woodwork could secure the 3 points. 3 points which were undeserved anyway.
