Trending Fungus, Candida auris Infects 2300 Persons In US

A recently viral  fungus, Candida auris has spread to 28 states after it was first discovered in 2009.

Candida auris has  infected  over  2,300 people in the U.S ever since it has been increasing at an alarming rate.

One theory for the sudden emergence of Candida auris is climate change.

As temperatures rise, fungi may be able to evolve to survive hotter temperatures and therefore survive inside the human body.

However, the exact origins of Candida auris and why it emerged suddenly are still unknown. It is also believed that supply shortages during COVID-19 surges may have contributed to the recent surge in infections.

Scientists are urging for more research and concerted global action to address the outbreak of Candida auris and similar menaces in the future.
