Transfer news: How Mkhitaryan is delaying Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United

Manchester United have all but agreed a deal that will see Alexis Sanchez move to the club from Arsenal. However, the transfer is being held up by Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s hesitation.

Mkhitaryan is taking his time to think over a move to the Emirates and is happy to stand his ground if he feels the move is not right for him.

Gunners boss, Arsene Wenger, is keen for the Armenia midfielder to be part of the deal that sees Sanchez join United. The Frenchman is also keen on his compatriot, Anthony Martial, although Jose Mourinho will likely not sanction his departure.

Wenger was keen to take Anthony Martial in part-exchange, but United have made clear that they have no desire to part with the young Frenchman.

Mkhitaryan joined United 18 months ago for £27million and was left out of the squad on Monday night for the 3-0 win over Stoke.

He is currently paid £180,000-a-week and Arsenal will need to match that figure.
