Transfer news: Alexis Sanchez, Mkhitaryan set for medicals as swap deal looms
Alexis Sanchez is all set for his medicals with Manchester United this weekend, after leaving the Arsenal team hotel late on Friday evening.
Sanchez was set to feature in the Gunners’ Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon, but has been given the green light to travel up North and seal a lucrative move.
A swap deal involving United midfielder Henrik Mkhitaryan has been under discussion in recent days, with Sanchez believed to have agreed all personal terms.
The Chilean is expected to sign a four-a-half-year contract reported to be worth up to £500,000-a-week, but will not make his debut for United against Burnley on Saturday.
Mkhitaryan’s agent, Mino Raiola, is believed to have been in detailed talks with both clubs in the last 48 hours, with the Armenian international believed to be entitled to a settlement payment from United before he moves to Arsenal.
Latest reports claim the clubs are open to the prospect of doing two separate transfers rather than a swap deal, which may make negotiations easier.
