Train driver dies as Lagos-Kano train got sabotaged in Kaduna

A train driver, identified as Bala Kawu has died after a Lagos-Kano train went off the rail in Kaduna State.

TopNaija reports that the narrow gauge which was conveying soft drinks from Lagos to Kano State got sabotaged at Farin Ruwa, near Jaji in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer, Northern Regional District of the Nigeria Railways Corporation, NRC, Zaria, Abdullahi Alhaji, said the accident occurred as a result of vandalization of the slippers and other accessories of the rail track in the area.

Alhaji said rescue efforts are currently ongoing to recover the remains of the deceased.
