Tragedy Looms As Abia State Polytechnic Student Drowns In Umuchime River

A sad and tragic incident had happened where a student of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba lost his life in a drowning mishap.

The young man, identified as Chidera Kenneth Ogwuru, lost his life in a drowning accident at Umuchime River in Ossah Ibeku, Umuahia Local Government Area of Abia State.

TopNaija gathered that the unfortunate incident happened on Saturday, November 18, 2023, while Chidera was swimming with some of his friends.

According to Comrade Ugorji Kalu, the deceased was unaware of the river’s depth and current before leaping into the water.

As his friends realized Chidera was in trouble, it was too late for them to save him from drowning.

The devastating turn of events has left the community in shock and mourning.

Chidera was the sole son of his parents and was from Uzuakoli in Bende Local Government Area, which added to the grief of his untimely death.

The death of a promising young life has thrown a gloom on Abia State Polytechnic and the surrounding community.
