Tragedy as 100-Level student slumps and dies during lecture
Aminat Tajudeen, a 100-level student of Kwara State College of Education, met an untimely death as she slumped and passed away while receiving a lecture in class.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, just a day before the scheduled matriculation ceremony for freshmen students at the school.
According to reports, Aminat had collected her matriculation gown earlier in the day with excitement for the upcoming ceremony, which was set to take place the following day.
However, tragedy struck as she suddenly collapsed during a lecture and was immediately rushed to the school clinic by her fellow students and faculty.
Unfortunately, before reaching the clinic, Aminat had already passed away, leaving the college community in shock and grief.
Her body was later taken to the Muslim cemetery, Osere, for her Janazah and burial.
Speaking at the burial, Aminat’s bereaved father expressed disbelief, stating that his daughter had shown no signs of illness.
He recounted how they had a lengthy discussion that morning before he escorted her to get a cab to school. He was devastated by the sudden loss of his daughter.
“She showed no sign or symptom of any sickness. We had quite a lengthy discussion on several issues before I escorted her to get a cab to the school.” He said.
Confirming the incident, the college Public Relations Officer, Mrs Abibat Zubair, disclosed that Aminat was a student of Music/Yoruba and was mourned by the college and fellow students during the matriculation ceremony.
The cause of Aminat’s collapse and subsequent death is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing.
The tragic incident has left the college community in mourning, and students and faculty are grappling with the loss of a young life on the eve of a joyous occasion.
