Tottenham Does Not Have The Foundations -- Antonio Conte Slams

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has stated that the club lacks the necessary foundation and winning mentality to compete among the elite clubs in Europe, following their elimination from the Champions League by AC Milan on Wednesday evening. Despite this, he insisted that he still has his contract running at the club.

Tottenham failed to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg against the Italian club and struggled to create clear-cut chances in the return leg, which prompted the home supporters to boo their side after the final whistle. The future of Conte at the club remains uncertain.

The Italian, whose current deal expires at the end of the season, is reportedly eyeing a return to his homeland. Speaking to BT Sport after the game, he said:

“I have a contract with Tottenham, Tottenham know very well what my thoughts are. At the end of the season, we will meet and we will make a decision. We need time because at this moment we don’t have a solid foundation to be competitive, to fight, to win, in my opinion.”

He added, “We will see, we have to finish the season. I have a contract until June, I am happy to work in Tottenham, but in the end, we have to make a decision.”

Conte’s comments indicate that he may be considering his future at Tottenham, with reports suggesting that he could leave the club at the end of the season. Despite the team’s disappointing performances in the Champions League, they are currently in contention for a top-four finish in the Premier League, which could potentially salvage their season.
