So how does TopNaija think this season will turn out in these categories?

First things first, predictions are what they are; an overview into the future based on the analysis of current events and standings. It is nothing factual nor prophetic, so in other words, a lot could be wrong and quite a few could be right.

So what is going to happen in the exciting 2022/23 Season in our Premier League predictions?

Premier League winners: Tottenham Hotspur

(Why) Spurs has conducted some smart businesses this summer transfer window, and for some reason, they have been the most underrated team in terms of punditry predictions or media analysis.

Even with their world class manager, the North London club still continues to be overlooked by the media and rivals, forgetting how the club put up a performance at the back end of last season to finish in the top 4 despite having a terrible start in the festive period.

The fact that they have a world class manager who has a proven track record of being a winner, and initiating a revolution within the status quo, speaks volume.

He singlehandedly ended the Juventus monopoly in the Serie A with Inter Milan, came to Chelsea and won the Premier League in his first season, and just in a half season with Tottenham, was able to push them for Champions League spot despite meeting them at a much terrible place.

The fact that they are very much underdogs to the big two (Liverpool and Manchester City) gives them an evolutionary advantage to surprise the footballing world.

Top Four Challengers:

Tottenham

Manchester City

Liverpool

Chelsea

(Why?)

Generally every prediction has had either Manchester City or Liverpool challenging for the Premier League title like in other seasons before, but this season, both will actually be challenging for the top 4.

The two title rivals in previous season will experience a dip in form due to some key players leaving their squad or injuries.

Manchester City will feel the effect of losing Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus to its rivals, and would suffer with a tactical change as teams will have City figured out.

Liverpool’s main challenge will be squad depth as they might encounter injury challenges going into the middle of the season.

For Chelsea, they will suffer inconsistency going into the season but will hold their heads high to come out on top of the challenge against Arsenal and Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag’s first season won’t go down well as they will crash out of the Europa League and lose the top 4 challenge over squad depth, with Arsenal winning the Europa League to make the Champions League berth.

Relegation Dwellers:

  1. Everton
  2. Fulham
  3. Leeds United

Team with the Surprise Package: Nottingham Forest

They will probably be the Wolves of earlier premier league seasons, and become giant killers to finish 12th in the Premier League table.

League Cup winners: Manchester City

FA Cup winners: Liverpool

Premier League Golden Boot challenge:

Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal)

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Heung-Min Son (Tottenham Hotspur)

Player of the Year: Heung-Min Son

Young Player of the Year: Harvey Eliott

First Manager to be Sacked: Frank Lampard

Sadly the pressure will be quite too much on Frank Lampard that the board might be forced to sack him in favor of better minds that eventually will take them to the Championship.

So there you have our Premier League predictions heading into the season.
