Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emerged victorious in the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday.

According to the results from 18 local government areas (LGAs) announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Okpebholo secured a total of 291,667 votes. His closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 247,655 votes. Read more here.

Leaders Remo Stars Football Club of Ikenne regained the top of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, defeating former champions and hosts Kano Pillars.

The 2023/2024 runners-up were knocked out on Saturday by another former champion, Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt, who defeated hosts Lobi Stars of Makurdi 1-0 in Lafia. Read more here.
