Tope Oshin and Daniel Ademinokan’s ‘Here Love Lies’ to Debut on Netflix
Award-winning filmmaker Tope Oshin‘s new movie, “Here Love Lies,” is set to release on March 3, 2023.
The film tells the story of Amanda, a single parent and travel blogger who finds love on social media with American tour guide Michael. Their romance takes them on a trip to the United States, where they discover new opportunities and face unexpected dangers.
Tope Oshin, the director, producer, writer, and lead actress of the movie, is a celebrated filmmaker known for her work on movies like “New Money,” “We Don’t Live Here Anymore,” and “UpNorth.” “Here Love Lies” is the first African film to receive the ReFrame Stamp, recognizing its success in promoting gender balance and empowering women in film and TV.
The film features an all-star cast including Tope Oshin, Tim Shelburne, Sam Dede, Angel Unigwe, Tina Mba, Omowunmi Dada, Omozele Gabriel, Barbara Walsh, Bambi Everson, and Daniel Etim Effiong. Daniel Ademinokan, a prolific filmmaker and CEO of Leon Global Media, served as co-producer, cinematographer, editor, color grader, and music supervisor.
“Here Love Lies” has already won the prestigious AMAA award for Best Film by an African-born director living abroad and had its world premiere screening at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington DC as part of its debut presentation of the +234 Connect Film Festival.
