Sokoto State has suffered a devastating loss with the passing of Aishat Maina, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Female Education.

Maina was attending a rally for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) when she became caught in a stampede that took place at the exit gate of the rally’s venue, the Giginya Stadium.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Maina passed away shortly after her admission at Usman Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.

“A motorcyclist fell down from his bike at the exit way of the stadium and that caused a serious stampede, with people falling upon one another. She was one of the victims,”  a source said.
