The shake-up includes the high-profile appointment of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the widow of Biafran leader Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who is expected to become the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending Senate confirmation.

This reshuffle, which took place during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, saw the exit of notable figures, such as Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Prof. Tahir Mamman (Education), and Lola Ade-John (Tourism). Tinubu’s decision signals a clear shift toward enhancing government efficiency and addressing the pressing needs of the nation, as his administration seeks to implement a robust reform agenda.

Among the new appointees, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda will take over from Betta Edu as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, while Maigari Dingyadi assumes leadership of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Jumoke Oduwole is set to lead the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Idi Maiha steps in to manage the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development.

These changes also reflect a restructuring within the federal ministries. The Ministry of Niger Delta Development has been rebranded as the Ministry of Regional Development, and the Ministry of Sports Development has been dissolved, with its duties transferred to the National Sports Commission.
