Tinubu sacks NAHCON chairman Jalal Arabi

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the new Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

Topnaija.ng reports that this was disclosed by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, on his X page on Monday.

Usman will replace Jalal Arabi, a former permanent secretary who is facing EFCC and ICPC probes for alleged mismanagement of Hajj funds. Arabi is being probed along with the commission’s secretary, Abdullahi Kontagora.

The nominated NAHCON chair is a renowned scholar with qualifications from the University of Madinah and Peshawar University, Pakistan.

He is also well-grounded in Hajj operations, having served as the Chairman of Kano State Pilgrims Board, and successfully superintended the operations of the largest quota of state pilgrims in the country.

The nomination is subject to confirmation by the Senate.
