Tinubu orders implementation of Tax Reform Committee
On Tuesday, October 24, President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria issued a resounding directive for the swift and immediate implementation of recommendations put forth by the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee.
The President’s order encompasses ministries, agencies, and departments of the federal government.
The announcement came after President Tinubu received a comprehensive report from the committee’s chairman, Taiwo Oyedele, during a gathering at the State House in Abuja.
Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, conveyed the details to journalists in Abuja.
Furthermore, President Tinubu has instructed his Adviser on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, to collaborate with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Taiwo Oyedele to ensure the prompt implementation of these directives.
This proactive move by the President demonstrates his commitment to facilitating the achievement of the committee’s quick-win recommendations.
Additionally, it underscores his dedication to ensuring seamless coordination across various governmental institutions in the execution of tax policy reforms.
The President’s next step involves presenting the committee’s recommendations to the Federal Executive Committee (FEC) during their upcoming meeting on Monday.
This underscores the importance and priority assigned to the suggested tax policy changes.
In his statement, the President emphasized the need for a tax system that focuses on taxing the fruit rather than the seed, highlighting the government’s dedication to fostering an environment conducive to economic growth and development.
