Three persons, two police inspectors died in Kogi auto crashTopNaija reports that three persons, including two police inspectors, on Thursday, died in an accident on Ajaokuta-Ojodu-Ayingba road in Kogi State.

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Solomon Aghure, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Lokoja.

He disclosed that the victims were traveling in an ambulance.

The policemen and the driver were on the road with a casket to pick the corpse of a police sergeant from a mortuary in Ayingba.

The vehicle collided with a Mercedes Benz truck coming from the opposite direction at a spot in Ojodu community.

Police spokesman, DSP William Aya, also confirmed the incident to NAN.

Aya explained that the two policemen were detailed to pick the deceased sergeant and accompany to Adamawa for burial as requested by the family.

He said that the driver of the truck and his motor boy ran away to evade arrest.

The corpses of the two police inspectors had been deposited at a morgue in Lokoja, while that of the civilian driver of the ambulance had been released to his family.
