Thomas Partey gives Arsenal shocking Update
Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey has reportedly handed Arsenal a shocker for an update ahead of the January transfer window.
The report comes in response to growing interest from Serie A giant, Juventus as the winter transfer window draws closer. The Ghanaian midfielder is said to have handed in a transfer request to Arsenal in order to pursue an exit away from the Emirates.
The Ghana international had been a subject of transfer speculations during the summer, with links to Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli, especially after Arsenal’s significant investment in Declan Rice, totaling approximately £105 million.
Despite initial transfer rumors, Thomas Partey ultimately remained at Arsenal but has faced challenges in securing consistent game time due to multiple injuries he sustained since the beginning of the season.
Italian publication Tutto Mercato has reported that the 30-year-old midfielder has communicated his intention to leave Arsenal during the January transfer window. Juventus is said to be leading the race for his signature, as they are actively seeking a defensive midfielder.
However, it is suggested that Partey will be patient and wait for potential interest from Premier League or La Liga clubs before making a final decision.
Partey’s future at Arsenal was a major topic of discussion during the summer transfer window. Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, had consistently emphasized Partey’s significance to the team, stating that the player’s intent was to remain with the club.
Arteta affirmed Partey’s importance, saying,
“Thomas Partey is a super important player for us and for me. We want him to be in the team, that’s for sure.”
Nonetheless, in October, Arteta expressed concerns about Partey’s fitness, and there were suggestions that the midfielder might be sidelined until December.
This is a contrast to his time at Atletico Madrid, where he missed just seven games over five years, but injuries have plagued his Arsenal career in the past three years.
